Swallowtail Sunday

This swallowtail was hiding way up high in a tree.

Aren't they just some of the prettiest bugs?

Carrion Beetle

Mom said this is a carrion beetle.

We saw it on the beach!

This is probably a very tiny fly. It was hanging out on a flower.

Oh my, a fly!

Flies are often overlooked, but they have pretty cool eyes.

Diurnal Firefly

These guys are diurnal fireflies.

They don't glow like other fireflies and they like dead logs.

This beetle is one of the prettiest we have seen!

It is so shiny!

Butterfly Friday!

We got to see a few butterflies at the park.

Some of them even paused for just a moment so we could try to take a picture.

This butterfly looks like it is missing a little bit of their wing. It didn't slow it down any!

Carpenter Ant

Aunt Dani really doesn't like ants, but this carpenter aunt is actually kind of pretty.

Cats and Butterflies

We saw a few butterflies this weekend, but this one was the first to slow down a little. The picture is blurry but at least you can see it!

When we were leaving the park a caterpillar floated down out of the sky and landed on mom!

City Nature Challenge

This weekend we participated in the city nature challenge! It is a citizen science project to go out and document as much wildlife as possible and cities compete to see who can get the most observations. We went to a few parks and this is what we contributed!

A beetle in a daffodil.

A bee of some kind probably.

A beetle.

A nomad bee.

The internet says this is a tachnid fly.

A two-spotted bee.

And this was my favorite picture of the weekend!
